It is located 2 miles from the Pu'uhonua O Honaunau National Park and a seven minute drive from the ancient "Place of Sanctuary" and beach where respectful snorkelers can frequently swim with friendly turtles and dolphins in the wild. The Dragonfly Ranch is a Healing Arts retreat center and holistic B&B best known for the spirit of aloha that abounds there. It has luxuriously rustic indoor/outdoor treehouse-style lodging and a large organic garden which provides most of the wonderfully healthy food served there. For information on accommodations or to see a photo of the Illuminarium where the workshop is going to be held, see www.dragonflyranch.com. This unique course will train practitioners to customize an aromatherapy facial rejuvenation treatment by utilizing an Oriental Medical approach. With her twenty five years of clinical experience using essential oils and knowledge of Oriental Medicine, Ms. Doran has created a highly effective and innovative approach for working with aromatherapy. She will teach the cosmetic uses of individual essential oils, carrier oils and hydrosols, an exciting new branch of aromatherapy that is extraordinarily useful in treating and caring for the skin. Highly effective formulas will also be revealed for specific conditions such as dry skin, combination skin, oily skin, acneic skin, sensitive skin, puffiness, sagging skin, age spots, scars and wrinkles. Additionally, protocols using essential oils on distal acupuncture points as a root treatment will also be taught for these conditions. This root and branch style of aromatherapeutic treatment provides a more dramatic and lasting effect than either approach used separately. With this highly effective approach to Facial Rejuvenation, one can simultaneously benefit a person's appearance and overall health.

With extensive handouts, the course begins with general information on the subject that anyone practicing aromatherapy should know. This includes: the history of aromatherapy, how it works scientifically on the body and the psyche, the importance of natural versus synthetic products, how to identify and locate high quality products, ways to use them, propers methods of handling and storage, ethical issues, cautions and contraindications, guidelines for making aromatherapy blends, and recommended books and sources for top quality oils, hydrosols, and ready-made aromatherapy products for facial rejuvenation.

Then the Chinese medical energetics and esthetique uses will be given for over seventy essential oils. Thirty carrier oils, and forty hydrosols will be discussed followed by formulas for local (branch) treatment and distal root treatment protocals for the underlying causes of these signs of aging and dysfunction. Finally, through a hands-on experience, participants will create both a custom essential oil and hydrosol blend for their own use and learn how to apply essential oils to acupuncture points.

PLEASE NOTE: This workshop is geared towards holistic health practitoners. While no prior knowledge of aromatherapy is necessary, attendees are expected to be comfortable with basic Oriental Medical theory and acupunture/acupressure point uses and locations.
